About Project

The quick thinking of a night security guard allowed the hard working men and women of the La Mesa Fire Department to quickly knock down an electrical fire at the Strawberry Hills Clubhouse facility.  Unfortunately, the fire did enough damage to render much of the building unsalvageable.  Instead of rebuilding the once peculiar structure, the community decided to reimagine the facilities and rebuild the Clubhouse into a  modern, useful building.  PCA was retained to work with the Association and design team to develop a suitable design for the odd shaped property as well as evaluate components such as major retaining walls, site utilities, and other improvements necessitated by the new building.

With designs and permits in hand, PCA worked with a team of contractors and managed the difficult 2.6 million dollar project.  With components of the original building designated to remain, and other sections a complete tear down and replacement, the project relied on PCA to navigate the project through the ever changing landscape of the project.  Components were found to be more fire damaged than anticipated, while historical deterioration impacted certain facilities.  The Association took advantage of various opportunities to upgrade the property.  In the end, the Clubhouse project exceeded initial expectations and is now a beautiful, modern facility for the community’s members.
