About Project
Like so many coastal San Diego condominiums structures, the Ocean Point Condominium building was in need of repairs after 30 years of service life. The Association decided to replace the aging aluminum windows and selected vinyl retrofit windows made by a major local manufacturer. Within years, the vinyl windows failed. The manufacturer, recognizing the vinyl product failure, replaced the vinyl window with their new line of fiberglass of retrofit windows. Well those failed as well.
The second time around the window manufacturer didn’t step up to take responsibility for the window defects and blamed a variety of other factors for the window failures. PCA in conjunction with other experts was able to convince the window manufacturer, installer, and other contractors that windows leaked and caused significant damage to the aging structure as a result of product and installation defects. A settlement was reached and PCA looks forward to construction managing the restoration project in the Fall of 2016.
